Holiday Season Turkey Drive

The meaning of giving: to present voluntarily, and without expecting compensation. It is anchored in love, compassion, and thankfulness towards others.  This is what Milotso embodies!

This past holiday season we were blessed with the opportunity to give away 625 turkeys to Milotso mentees and their families. A special thanks to the Moore Foundation and MHS Health Wisconsin for partnering with us! With this act of kindness, we were able to help families in need by providing food security and showing our support during the holidays.

It was such a great feeling to see our team come together to fulfill our mission of athletes giving back to their communities. More importantly, what a great way for our mentors to exemplify empathy and generosity to their mentees during the holiday season. My hope is that our mentees remember how it felt to receive this type of love and support and in turn someday model the same behavior of giving.

“The first great gift we can bestow on others is a good example” Thomas Morell

According to Move For Hunger, about 47 million people in the United States are facing hunger.  The prevalence of food insecurity is higher in rural areas than in urban areas. Addressing food insecurity is a massive challenge that we need to approach both systematically and on a community level so that no one goes through their day in need of food. There are several ways to get involved and make an impact, such as helping by donating to support communities in need, host a food drive, or sponsor a family to name a few. The Milotso team was proud to contribute to this important cause during the holiday season and the fact we were able to provide turkeys to our mentees and their families made it even more special.
